OpenOffice.org is an office automation suite, that includes, like most suites, a software package (for working in offices and other professional locations), including a word processor (Writer) and a spreadsheet (Calc) and is completely compatible and competitive with the well-known Microsoft Office.
OpenOffice.org also contains other utilities, all of them in Spanish:
- A multimedia presentation program, Impress.
- A database management system, Base, which lets you make reports and forms with very easy access to data.
- A mathematical formula editor, Math.
- A vector graphics editor, Draw.
- A web browser, an e-mail client, an organisation program or agenda and smaller graphics and communications tools.
OpenOffice.org is an open code and freeware program, compatible with many operating systems like Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Mac OS X and GNU/Linux.
OpenOffice.org updates automatically, includes better Access programs in the Base system and greater ease when exporting to HTML from the spreadsheet.
