DirectX is an API package of applications that improves the performance of games and complicated multimedia applications, significantly optimising the quality of the sound and graphics. This redistributable package of functions and procedures was designed for software developers and is compatible with the Microsoft Windows platform.
DirectX includes the following controllers:
- Direct3D, to process three-dimensional graphics. The most used DirectX property, which endows the game with great realism.
- DirectGraphic: for two-dimensional graphic programming.
- DirectSound: for recording and playing sound waves.
- DirectSetup: for installing different DirectX components.
- DirectShow: for reproducing files in audio and video format.
- DirectInput: for processing the components used to control the game like the mouse, keyboard and joystick.
- DirectMusic: for playing music from the DirectMusic Producer.
